School’s out for UK Summer and Mozzie Cozzie ended 2024’s academic year with a contest at The London College of Fashion aka LCF.

LCF invited us to visit their brand new digital printing workshop now they are more settled at the brand new HQ - the all new fashion hub for Europe in Stratford, UK.

It is well worth a visit.

When we visited their free exhibition was of UK costumes, so with our Mosquito Costume we felt like we’d landed back home!

Together with LCF’s digital print lecturers, we joined our enterprises to form a collaborative, asynchronised working team. We set ourselves the challenge that digital printing in the UK can be enjoyable, efficient and printed to order.

With elevated interest for patterned Mozzie Cozzies, we set the bar high and started small with a group of talented students and set up a competition.

Next we needed an industry standard panel of judges readied to select a winning design (well done Annliese!) and then a local printer in the UK…

We did a lot of the set up concurrently because we are used to habit stacking (so much better than multitasking). We’d booked in the manufacturing at a social enterprise factory we love. Our blank certified 100% TENCEL™ branded fibers by Lenzing AG fabric was already with us via Royal Mail and our amazing Lenzing certified fabric suppliers, Pigeon Wishes. The contest was planned to be done and dusted in just over 1 week.

The huge digital printing machine got taken in the night - to Germany!

Well, we were all a bit bothered by that, but set about swotting the problem back and forth and within a week, we are back on track with a very busy hero UK digital printer and everyone working together to beat the itch to get stitching using technology that we can share and learn from.

So, they may take our machines, but they will never take our freedom!
