Tick Tock
It’s time for Ticks! I didn’t know much about them until this month…
Turns out the UK (and the US) are in a tick epidemic! There are even tick surveillance maps in Europe.
Ticks are everywhere, even on the golf course! Who ever knew!
So, what do you do if you get one?
Well, we spotted a sign on the outside of a very helpful Pharmacist in the Hebrides - we went and asked what folks have to do to know if they have been bitten or not and we wanted to share it with you.
It seems you have to be quick on the clock after every walk if you’ve opted for flesh on display…
So you can be prescribed antibiotics with a tick bite, for example, one called doxycycline and take them twice a day for 3 weeks!
We’d rather wear our Mozzie Cozzies (yes even if we played golf!) because we just don’t want to get our skin out and be subject to these ticking time bombs for Lyme disease.
We found all this out whilst on a family holiday in Scotland - we’d all gone with our Mozzie Cozzie hoods to keep off the midges and well, we only met a few in the evening, but they didn’t get us!
Neither did the ticks!
Hooray for Mozzie Cozzie! - we learn more every day about how to protect ourselves from insects that bite and also of course the sun. We were not expecting ticks and tropical weather but we found both.
You just never know what’s coming.
We’ve hoods in stock now if you want the UK’s first sustainable one, produced ethically in London.
Stay Smitten Not Bitten.
